Fake in China Friday, 4 May 07

China is well-known for their infamous counterfeits and rip-offs for various products you can ever name of  Gucci, LV, Burberry, iPod Nano and even eggs! shocked

Right now, there is even a “Disneyland” situated in Beijing! shocked Also known as Shi Jing Shan Amusement Park (SJS), it’s a total rip-off from the original Disneyland wtf The President of SJS even tried to clarify that the Mickey Mouse they created is actually a cat with big ears :blank: What, Mickey Cat? :argh:

YUCKS!! What’s with that human hand peeking out? :disbelief:

Adapted from The Standard:

With its slogan “Disneyland is too far,” Beijing’s Shijingshan Amusement Park features a replica of Cinderella’s Castle, with staff dressed like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and other Disney characters.

None of this is authorized by Disney – but that has not stopped the state-owned park from creating its own counterfeit version of the Magic Kingdom in a brazen example of the sort of open and widespread copyright piracy that has Washington fuming.

The United States announced Monday it would file a case at the World Trade Organization over rampant copyright piracy in China, a practice which US companies say deprives them of billions of dollars each year.

But 31-year-old housewife Zhang Li betrays a typical Chinese attitude on the issue while chasing her young son around the park.

“I don’t understand why that is such a big problem. Shouldn’t others be able to use those characters besides [Disney]?” she asks.

Her view is common in a country where lax societal and law-enforcement attitudes toward copyright protection has seen the counterfeit goods industry become a key part of the national economy.

A news report from Japan about SJS:

Someone even tried to fix “Hello Kitty’s” curly whiskers. OMG gross :argh: The characters are pretty scary, who the hell would visit SJS? I won’t wtf Also, they are really unprofessional to take off their costumes in the presence of the visitors. When will they ever stop their nonsense? Are they hoping to rule the world? wth They should learn to be innovative and creative, and not trying to profit from the success of others :disbelief:

Do you mean your previous comment or? Nothing wrong with it ah :) I can see everything. Maybe you want to send me a screenshot of the error if it happens again. Authentic Disneyland can only be found in L.A., Tokyo, Hong Kong (anywhere else?). Can’t remember. Obviously, China is trying too hard to imitate. But their imitations are all really gross

Woah, I heard of entire companies being “pirated” where the hired staff didn’t even realize that the company isn’t the real one. I can’t find the source for it though. This Disney one is really bizarre, like a zombified version of the real Disneyland. :ninja:
