Many thanks to Sheylara and SPRG, I had free tickets to catch the preview of 4BIA at Golden Village. 4BIA is said to be the top grossing Thai horror movie of year 2008 from the directors of “Alone”, “Shutter” and “Body #19″. This movie is a collection of 4 horror stories directed by 4 of Thailand’s most talented directors namely Youngyooth Thongkonthun, Paween Purikitpanya, Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoon.
Happiness
Pin (Maneerat Kham-uan) is forced to be confined in her flat due to a broken leg. While surfing the net one day, she started receiving a mysterious SMS from a stranger. A series of SMS exchanges unravels a mystery that awaits.

This film started off pretty slow with her constant usage of the mobile phone, which nearly made me fall alseep. But things started to pick up when the stranger MMS her a picture of him. Which of course, is up to your vast imagination what the picture shows.
Tit for Tat
This story revolves around black magic and a group of delinquents venting their anger on a peer whom they thought had ratted on them to the teacher after being caught with weed. He of course couldn’t fight them alone, thus turning himself to black magic to teach them a deadly lesson.

The visual effects of this film revolves around gore and blood. The quick-cut editing and impact along with the explicit visuals adds on to the excitement of the whole film.
In the Middle
This story takes place in the jungle where 4 buddies go on a camping trip. They started exchanging ghost stories to scare one another. One of them jokingly swears that if he were to die, he will come back to haunt whosoever sleeps in the middle. True enough, he died the very next day.

This film is a mixture of comedy and horror that takes you on a roller coaster ride. Challenge yourself to handle both fear and laughter at the same time.
Last Fright
All of the horror action takes place on a special chartered plane on Golden Star airlines. Pim (Laila Boonyasak) is a flight attendant assigned to fly solo on a charter flight with the Princess of Khurkistan. The princess’s constant demands irritates Pim and she decides to take her revenge. Due to the negligence of Pim, the princess passed away after she ate something she is allergic to.

This idea was the first that Director Parkpoom Wongpoon came up with after a friend told him that if a member of the royal were to pass away, the body has to be carried in the cabin and seated on the passenger seat. That spark an idea to create a horror film, thus he collaborated with the other three directors to come up with the movie.
The four short stories are actually linked in a way or another. It would definitely help if you could understand Thai. Thankfully, I have a Thai colleague to explain to me about the movie :D
After the movie, we even had the chance to interact with the directors and actors =) It’s a good opportunity to understand how did the ideas derive from and the thoughts of the directors. Overall, I had fun that night. Of course, I had a few scares to end my day with.
Be sure to catch 4BIA if you have not done so
