Singapore, Friday, 12 June 2009 LG Electronics (LG), a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, sponsored an Asia-wide CNET Asia survey about smartphones to learn more about Asian consumer needs, insights and preferences concerning smartphones. The survey of almost 2,000 respondents across Asia Pacific showed that 86% expressed desire to purchase a smartphone in the near future.

The survey indicated that when choosing a smartphone, the operating system of the smartphone is the most important purchasing factor and they also cited that an easy to use interface that is similar to a PC-like experience is another important reason. 50.2% of the respondents stated that they preferred a smartphone with the Windows Mobile operating system (OS) as it provides them with familiarity as a starting point and has connectivity features such as full internet browsing, email and social networking capabilities. They also claimed that a smartphone with Windows Mobile OS would be easy to use.

In the survey, respondents said that their ideal smartphone is one that has a fast processing speed, long battery life and enhanced operation. The respondents were dissatisfied with the slow processing speeds and short battery life and considered those factors as unbecoming to a smartphone. In addition, they also wanted smartphones to be available in slimmer, sleeker designs to suit their mobile lifestyles.

Critical concerns about smartphones in the survey included high prices and bulky design. Due to the fact that smartphones are the most advanced handsets, the respondents perceived smartphones as unaffordable.

LG sponsored the CNET Asia survey to understand the perceptions of Asian consumers about smartphones. As the CNET Asia survey indicates, ease of use is the most important factor in deciding a new smartphone.

About the CNET Asia Survey on Smartphone

The CNET Asia survey was conducted online over two weeks from Monday, May 25th, 2009 to Monday, June 8th, 2009. A total of 1,905 responses from across Asia Pacific were recorded. Countries most represented in the survey include Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia and the Philippines. About 66% of respondents were males, with the remaining 34% of respondents being females. Members of the public who participated in the survey stand a chance to win one of five of LGs latest smartphone. CNET Asia and LG will select five participants that provided the most constructive answers.

That being said, have you got your smartphone yet? :)

SINGAPOREANS can look forward to nine long weekends next year as all public holidays except one fall on the weekend, Friday or Monday.

The only one that falls on a weekday is Hari Raya Haji on Nov 17, a Wednesday.

Starting with the first day of the New Year on a Friday, long weekends follow with Chinese New Year falling on Feb 14, Sunday, and Feb 15, Monday. This means that Feb 16, Tuesday, will also be a public holiday.

Good Friday, Vesak Day and Deepavali all fall on Fridays, while Labour Day and Christmas Day will be Saturdays.

MOM also reminds the public that Deepavali this year will fall on Oct 17, Saturday, instead of Nov 15, Sunday, after verification against the Indian Almanac.

This year, seven out of the 11 public holidays were long weekends.

SHIOK! Short trips, anyone? :love3:

Irresponsible Reports by TNP Mon, 1 June 09

Jacelyn • Filed under: Ranting 7:30 pmComments(4)

Following DK’s recent rant about the irresponsible reporting of TNP for the H1N1 case, I decided to boycott the tabloid as well :blah: There’s another interesting read by Hillary. Honestly speaking, I am really sick of the articles that TNP reported. Relationship problems, gossips, loansharks, sex, what else? Are there no other topics to be published?

DUMPED!

Sorry hor, they don’t belong to me. Those belong to my Dad

Look at the pile lying in my house

Please don’t tell my Dad if you know him personally  Unfortunately, I can’t stop him from buying though.
