[Review] Brazilian Waxing Wed, 5 August 09

Brazilian waxing is in trend right now. I think it started picking up really fast after Edison Chen’s scandal hahaha! I had my fair share of experience too. :tongue2:

I went for my virgin brazilian waxing (herein BW) at Honeypot @ Ngee Ann City when they were having a 1-for-1 promotion at SGD65.

Ambience: **
Not that decent as the rooms were open concept at the top of the ceiling. So, imagine you can hear the girl next door screaming her lungs out. Embarrassing huh?

Pain Factor: ****
4 points for this as my therapist managed to make my first time almost painless. She did press down the skin before pulling off the dried wax, so not too bad ya

Hygiene:
Very very bad. I realized that she double dipped the spatulas which is a no-no for me. Imagine all the dirt and bacteria from your pee pee sticking onto the spatula and there she is, dipping it into the wax again and again? Eww

Overall Experience: *
My therapist was not meticulous enough. I can see ingrown after doing my BW. She did not do for my butt crack.

Gabrielle was nice enough to share her package with me when she knew that I was interested to try out Strip @ Wheelock. I spent approximate SGD44 on their full BW (20% promotion for new customers).

Ambience: ***
Their decor is pretty comfortable and stylish. At least we had a closed room to ourselves. Nevermind if I shouted in pain.

Pain Factor: **
My therapist was a middle-aged auntie named Helen. She kept telling me to relax myself and even cracked jokes with me. Within a few minutes, it was done! I did not even realize it at all!

Hygiene: ****
I was given a wet tissue to clean myself up before my BW session starts. No double dipping at all!

Overall Experience: ****
I was lucky enough to try out their new berry chocolate wax. The wax is in a nice shade of yummy chocolate brown unlike other creamy white disgusting gooey substance. After my BW session, Helen used a tweezer to tweeze the ingrown before putting on the post-wax care cream for me.

Visited Pink Parlour at Marina Square with Gabrielle when they were having a 1-for-1 promotion at SGD49.

Ambience: *****
I love their decor! Its probably the pink interior that made me really excited and enthusiastic

Pain Factor: ***
A little painful for me as I think that I grew the hair for too long already But shouldn’t the therapist at least trim a little for me before waxing? They did that when I went Honeypot and Strip.

Hygiene: ****
They have a washing area and provided us with bathing robes and slippers before we prepare ourselves for BW. No double dipping.

Overall Experience: ***
My therapist was extremely meticulous. She used a tweezer and tweezed all the ingrown and stubborn hair before applying a soothing peppermint cream for post-wax care. But one thing that turns me off was their hard selling tactic. I ignored the girl though and she walked away silently.

So there you go, my BW experience with some of the famous waxing salons in Singapore. I am quite interested to try out other salons though. Please let me know if you come across any promotions. :)

Fr3b’s 1st Sampling Concept Store – Official Opening Mon, 3 August 09

Fr3b’s 1st Sampling Concept Store is officially opened at Stamford House #03-05! Woke myself up early in the morning on Saturday to drop by and take a look.

I quite like their logo, very sleek and eye-catching with the BLUE theme!

Didn’t expect the response to be that good! We reached there around 1130am and were already 5th in the queue.

The array of goodie bags ready to be given out!

Stacks of Teenage magazines to be distributed too!

The interior of the store. Look at all the samples, tempting huh?

Samples…

Samples…

And more samples!

They even have samples for men.

Before I start showing you guys what I’ve got from the concept store, let me rant on these two idiots from RazorTV. I can’t believe these people from SPH can be that childish and unprofessional. You know what they did that made me so irritated? They went around shoving the microphone and camera into other people’s face without ASKING FOR PERMISSION. Oh yeah, I meant by at least saying “Hi, can we ask you a few questions?”. Isn’t that simple enough? Well, probably that is the way how reporters work. But I have been to so many events (private launches, etc.) and none of them acted this way.

The final take? They stood at this corner when I was trying to look at the product samples but that stupid guy refused to move off and purposely blocked my way can?! And guess what? Just when I started walking off, he said sarcastically to his colleague in my presence “Next time if we want to film, we should just ask people for permission lah.” Can’t really remember what was the exact sentence he mentioned, but something close to that! ISN’T HE FOOKING RUDE?! Purposely wanted me to hear that right? TMD if not for the fact that I am trying to get my samples ASAP so that I can meet my dear guy, I would have rebuked at him. But what for? Waste my time on such uncivilized people. Coward, say in front of my face lah. What for talk behind my back? HUM JI! Pardon me for my language, but I seriously can’t stand such people.

And there you go, their photo on my blog. I wonder how would they like that? I publicized it without their permission, so? Now should I send it to Stomp since they like such gossipy news that much? It’s what they like, isn’t it? As far as I know, I was not the only one who complained about them. They need to reflect on themselves man But anyway, I will definitely complain to their management.

So well, for the happy part! The freebies that I have gotten from the opening! :)

Teenage magazine and samples from Acnes. Not a teenage anymore, but still Daniel Radcliffe is such a hottie on the cover. He looks cuter 8 years ago!

This is one of the items included in the goodie bag, a Dermalogica storage kit.

The interior. I think it’s pretty spacious.

My goodie bag. :) Apparently, those who collected on 1 Aug had gotten the wrong items. I am glad Fr3b is rectifying the issue soon.

The samples that I redeem on the day itself. Love the oxy mask! That marked my adventure at Fr3b’s 1st Sampling Concept Store! Looking forward to more samples for me to try it out! :wink1:

Way to go Fr3b!
