Standard Chartered Breeze Tuesday, 13 July 10

Last month, Standard Chartered (SCB) held a blogger’s breakfast to introduce the latest iPhone app, Breeze for mobile banking.

The first look at the cheery looking interface really lifted up my mood. I love how the background changes from day to night accordingly. Having said that, the buttons were lovely designed!

Promotions were also categorized accordingly, absolutely useful for shopaholics like us.

One of the best features, Breeze e-Cheque! A paperless way of sending cheques to your recipients, I really love this innovative idea. Having a simple and user-friendly app is one of the key things that I look for. I’m really tempted to get a Standard Chartered bank account already! :)

Interesting way to use a mobile application, although the ATM locator may probably be more useful if more banks could come together to work on them as a project. I am just wondering if the paperless cheque comes with some forms of authentication and security checks? Otherwise, it may be rather scary if one loses one’s handphone. (I still do have a fear of mobile banking precisely because of that).

Walter, there’s a Google Maps locator in the app. As for the e-cheque, the payee has to be added by yourself and authentication done via your mobile phone before the funds can be transferred out.

Hi Walter, this mobile app is targeted towards SCB banking customers, therefore only SCB ATMs are shown on the app! :) As for the paperless cheque, it’s completely safe – to send a cheque you need to first add payee via the internet banking site, if i’m not wrong. Soon, users will be able to add payees via mobile, but this will come only in the next version, Typhoon, if i recall correctly!

Also, once you press the exit button on the iPhone app, you will require a login when u launch the app again. I honestly haven’t tried it on iOS4 (but I know it’s compatible), so I don’t know how it works when we do multi-tasking. :P

I just opened a SCB account myself, now waiting for my iPhone 4. :P
