Walter on Wednesday, 14 Jul 2010 at 6:21 am said:

Interesting way to use a mobile application, although the ATM locator may probably be more useful if more banks could come together to work on them as a project. I am just wondering if the paperless cheque comes with some forms of authentication and security checks? Otherwise, it may be rather scary if one loses one's handphone. (I still do have a fear of mobile banking precisely because of that).

Hi Walter, this mobile app is targeted towards SCB banking customers, therefore only SCB ATMs are shown on the app! :) As for the paperless cheque, it's completely safe - to send a cheque you need to first add payee via the internet banking site, if i'm not wrong. Soon, users will be able to add payees via mobile, but this will come only in the next version, Typhoon, if i recall correctly!

Also, once you press the exit button on the iPhone app, you will require a login when u launch the app again. I honestly haven't tried it on iOS4 (but I know it's compatible), so I don't know how it works when we do multi-tasking. :P

I just opened a SCB account myself, now waiting for my iPhone 4. :P

Walter, there's a Google Maps locator in the app. As for the e-cheque, the payee has to be added by yourself and authentication done via your mobile phone before the funds can be transferred out.
