Food Tasting at Trattoria Gallo D’Oro with Casio Sheen + Positively Teal

Together with the other Casio Sheen bloggers, we were invited to the food tasting session at Trattoria Gallo D’Oro. Nurul and I had trouble looking for the restaurant and we initially thought it was at The Central, but no. It’s located at another mall named Central Mall hahaah!

Trattoria Gallo D’Oro is started by Chef Carlo who recommended the concept of communal dining where sharing is caring! Through his restaurant, he shares with his patrons the special home-cooked Italian food from his hometown. Introducing some of my favorite dishes! Apologies for the bad quality photos. I brought my camera but forgot to bring the memory card! *facepalm*

Tagliere de affettati misti Emiliani

A selection of thinly sliced Emilia Romagna cold cuts. I love ham and this is super delish!

Sardine fritte

Deep fried sardines with onions and lemon. Never knew deep fried sardines can taste that good, I’ve only eaten canned sardines in tomato sauce :D Tasted really crispy and didn’t have that strong fish odor!

Involtini di manzo ripieni

Rolled beef with mozzarella, capers and tomato sauce. To be honest, I don’t really fancy grounded beef (gimme steak and shabu shabu anytime!) cos I think they taste really yucky. But the mozzarella and tangy tomato sauce complements the entire dish perfectly.

Pollo al forno rustico

Roasted chicken with potatoes, olives and shallots. The meat of the chicken is really tender and juicy. I think it has been marinated pretty well =)

Torta della Nonna con gelato

Grandmother custard cake with vanilla gelato. Which girl doesn’t like desserts? It’s a secret recipe by Chef Carlo’s grandmother, hence the name. It has this lemony, citrus taste and the cake simply melts in your mouth. Oh god, the thought of it makes me drool! =D~

A collage of all dishes that we’ve tasted! :D

Us, flaunting our Casio Sheen with the friendly Chef Carlo! *flicks hair* :D I am wearing the Hamptons Pleated Maxi from MadAboutJu. Pic credit to Claire!

I can’t wait to dine here again. I miss the custard cake! Thanks Trattoria Gallo D’Oro and Omy for the invitation! =)

Anyhow, the voting phase for Casio Sheen has started! Pleaseeeee vote me at contests.omy.sg/casio-sheen/. Truly appreciate it! :D

Here’s something which I think I should share with you ladies! :)

Clara had invited me to the Positively Teal Bloggers Event about 2 weeks ago. This campaign is for women to understand more about ovarian cancer. It was truly remarkable as we had the chance to hear the personal story of an ovarian cancer survivor. It’s pretty shocking to know that 1 in 80 women faces ovarian cancer in their lifetime. Hence, it is important to be aware and have regular check ups to detect any symptoms early before it is too late.

In support of this campaign, Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie’s Executive Pastry Chef – Christophe Grilo has specially created Teal colored macarons! I’ve personally tasted them and they are really yummy. They have this light minty flavor filled with raspberry jam and will be on sale from 1 to 30 June 2012 at all Canele outlets.

Also, KissJane will be donating 10% of their proceeds from their “Think Positive” teal collection. Use this code t3aL10F09 to get a special 10% discount!

The Positively Teal Party will be held at Zouk tomorrow, 31 May from 730pm to 10pm in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Tickets can be purchased from www.flickevents.com/2012-teal-party or you may call 62415804 for more enquiries. For more details of this campaign, visit www.singaporecancersociety.org.sg/teal.shtml
