Review: Glamabox January and February 2013 Editions

Sponsored Review

Hello! I am back with a review of Glamabox! =) I had my first review back in 2012, you may read it here. Seems like they did a revamp on their boxes starting this year! There’s a huge improvement in the brands and products too. Here I have with me are the January and February boxes. The packaging comes with a detachable top lid now and it feels more sturdy to be reused!

For those of you who have not heard of Glamabox, it originates from Hong Kong and is founded by renowned-model and host Lisa S., wife of Daniel Wu. For S$18 a month, you will receive 4-5 beauty products and services from luxurious brands, all personally selected by Lisa S. IMHO, Glamabox is more skincare focus and the brands are usually found in Hong Kong but relatively unknown here. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the content.

Glamabox January 2013

Unboxing January 2013 edition! :)

First up! We have Daisymee Peach All Day Moisturizing 3 Second Booster (S$25, 50ml), a gel-like essence that melts upon contact with the skin and gets absorbed instantly. It has all natural peach ingredients to enhance cell elasticity. The mild peach scent is extremely soothing and refreshing. It helps to lock in the moisture to prevent dryness in the skin, to be used twice a day after cleansing – once in the morning and once at night. I love this product, but it would be better if the texture of the gel is slightly thicker.

The ingredients in Mask House Celebrity Bee-Tox Lighting Gel Eye Mask are extracted from natural pure sheep placenta. Somehow, sheep placenta sounds very yucky to me. Claimed to be highly raved by tai tais, it is extremely effective in stimulating deep skin cell proliferation to reverse the aging process.

Nutree Crema Caracol Snail Mask (S$50, 12pcs) costs a whopping S$4.20 for a piece, that’s pretty expensive for a sheet mask. This mask provides immediate tranquilizing effect and supplies moisture and nutrients for the skin. It contains snail secretion for skin tranquilizing and skin protection and does not irritate your skin. Products with snail extracts seemed to be really popular these days. I’ve jump on the bandwagon too and purchased the SnailStreet Snail Cream, will come to that review soon.

Sen by Kim Robinson Repairing Dry & Damaged Hair Shampoo + Conditioner (S$17, 400ml) is designed specifically for Asian hair. Both are rose-scented and leaves the hair really moisturized. Wish I could repurchase this but I am using keratin shampoos now.

Eternal Concept Active Nourishment Body Cream (S$50, 250ml) & Mineral Hand Cream (S$25, 80g) are my favorite products in this edition. The body cream has been formulated from a rich, creamy blend of avocado, aloe vera and shea butter. The cream absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

The mineral hand cream contains a rich combination of shea butter, dead sea salts, natural plant extracts, vitamins A & E. It helps rehydrate and nourish the skin to effectively heal small wound and combat dry skin. For some reasons, the hand cream smells like baby powder to me.

Glamabox February 2013

Unboxing February 2013 Valentine’s Day edition! :)

I am extremely pleased with this month’s edition. First, we have Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator (S$68, 50ml). A rich, oil-free cream-gel that instantly rehydrates the skin, it helps the skin to stay comfortably plumped, even 24 hours after applying it. Honestly, it’s pretty rich for my skin. I breakout the next day after applying it! I guess it’s more suitable for people with very dry to dry combination skin.

Next, we have Coach Poppy Flower Fragrance (S$90, 30ml). The perfume is a mix of jasmine petals, water lily, rose, sugared raspberry, musk, sandalwood and creamy apricot skin. Overall, it leaves an impression of a fun, flirty and floral fragrance.

Beautymate Hydro-Nourishing & Revitalizing Snail Nano Mask (S$16, 7pcs) costs about S$2.30 for a piece. Again, it contains snail extracts and allows the skin for fast regeneration and repair.

AFU Rose Petals Yogurt Mask (S$50, 120g) is the first natural petals yogurt mask in the world! It contains natural rose petals made from Bulgaria Rose, which is considered the best in the world. The rose extract moisturizes the skin while improving dull skin state, making it look bright white. The unique texture of yogurt mask is just like milk, with a baby-like softness. All-natural formula, it does not irritate the skin and hence, is extremely ideal for people with sensitive skin.

Dr. Cell All in One Face Gel (S$40, 50g) somehow reminds me of Dr. Ci:Labo, not sure if they are related. This product contains Coenzyme Q10 as an antioxidant to prevent negative effects caused by free radicals. Apart from that, it also contains three kinds of marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, 19 kinds of amino acid and nutrition to help increase skin elasticity and moisture. The gel-like texture of the product is pretty similar to Dr. Ci:Labo’s Aqua Collagen Gel, very moist, light and easily absorbed.

Hope the above review gives you a deeper understanding about what Glamabox has to offer. Thanks for reading! =)
