Not So Secret Lives: Crossroads is a continuation of Not So Secret Lives which talks about the story of two youths – Trey and Jesse and the friends around them using a blog. Their stories will be portrayed in a series of blog entries which will talk about taboo subjects like sex, HIV infections and STIs/STDs.

In this season, it started off with Trey waking up with a hangover in a hotel room – naked. On the bed, there was a long strand of black hair which obviously he don’t know who it belongs to. I shall not reveal what happens thereafter, so do visit www.notsosecretlives.com to find out more.

Trey made a grave mistake, so what should he do to resolve this issue? What’s done is done and in my opinion, he should be truthful to Jesse and be brave enough to admit his mistake even though he didn’t want this to happen in the first place.

This incident has created tension in his relationship with Jesse and it’s pretty hard to forgive someone who broke the trust. It’s not worth sacrificing a relationship for a fling. If you were Jesse, what would you do?

In my opinion, if Trey has respect for Jesse, he should know his limit and think twice before going ahead with that harmless fun.

The Red Box Project – Have You Done Your Part?

It’s nice to know that people actually care these days. When I stumbled upon The Red Box Project, I knew I had to contribute somehow.

I’m glad to have Nicole who offered to contribute too. Thanks babe!

I rummaged through my store room and managed to find this box. Umm, it looks kinda dirty though.

After wrapping and shopping for gifts for the kid (a 5-7 year old girl), here’s the box which we have contributed!

Biotherm White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] Press Launch

I was being invited to the press launch for Biotherm’s latest breakthrough in skincare, the White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] range two weeks ago.

The press launch event was held at Yantra Restaurant at Tanglin Mall.

Yantra is located at a quiet corner of Tanglin Mall. I had a tough time searching for the restaurant and nearly lost my way (not again!). Thank goodness I managed to find it! *phew*

Upon entering, I was greeted by their indie and elegant decor of the restaurant. The atmosphere was really relaxing.

We had really yummy beverages before being ushered into another area of the restaurant for a presentation.

They even took time to decorate the walkaway. How thoughtful and pretty!

Research scientists at Biotherm have discovered that melanin is born in a translucent cocoon. Gradually, this cocoon darkens and results in dark spots and dull skin under the influence of the protein PMEL 17.

The phyto-code seed, which can be found in the White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] range is able to inhibit the expression of PMEL 17 by fighting the darkening process. One of the key ingredients, Pure Thermal Plankton (PTP) helps to activate the birth of new cells as well.

We got to try out the various products from the White D-Tox range on the spot.

Extremely Babalicious

It has been a year and this would be my second visit to the Peranakan Museum. The “Peranakan craze” started when The Little Nyonya was being aired on Channel 8 last November. Everywhere I go, I would hear random strangers discussing about the plot and characters in the drama. Be it teenagers, working adults or the oldies. Needless to say, I was intrigued by the Peranakan culture too.

This time round, I got a chance to visit the museum again for the Big Baba Blog-Out as part of the Peranakan Festival which will be held from Nov 27 to Dec 6. There will be various events and activities running through to promote the Peranakan culture.

In the museum, the entire Peranakan culture are being exhibited into the various categories – from their origins to food, religious beliefs to wedding, etc.

Peranakans are the descendants of the Chinese immigrants who moved to the Southeast Asia region and intermarried with the Malay population. From there, it evolved into a rich and unique Peranakan culture. Babas refer to the men and Nyonyas refer to the women. Traditionally, the Nyonyas spent most of their time at home to learn about cooking and embroidery from their elders.

Peranakan homes used colorful porcelains known as Nyonyaware. They come with beautiful and exotic designs which include bowls, plates, spoons, flower vases and tea cups. Well, almost anything you can think of.

Just by looking at their embroidery masterpieces, I was so amazed that I couldn’t take my eyes off them. The Kasut Kodok (beaded frog leg shoes) is one of the crucial accessory that has to be worn by a Nyonya together with the kebaya. That being said, I am extremely curious how would I look like wearing the Nyonya kebaya hahaha..

And if that’s not enough, you just had to have a look at their exclusive Baba Bling exhibit. The collection ranges from earrings to studded belts that totally put me in awe of them. Unfortunately, I am unable to take pictures due to confidentiality of the collection.

Every piece of antique Nyonya jewelry is filled with designs and motifs like butterflies, flowers, phoenixes and dragons. The craftsmanship is fantastic!

Personally, I am fascinated by their wedding ceremony which is largely based on Chinese and Malay tradition. If only I am a Peranakan, I can have my wedding in the most luxurious way.

“Your life, your canvas” is the theme for World AIDS Day this year and is inspired by the notion that we are all responsible for painting the canvas of our own lives. What we choose to put on that canvas is entirely up to us, and the choices we make all contribute to a constantly evolving picture.

We shape our lives by the choices we make. Every choice we make takes us in a different direction. Whatever we do now will definitely affect us in later part of our lives. I totally agree with this.

L’Oreal Paris Derma-Genesis Pore Minimising Smoother Bloggers Lunch

I was invited to the very first blogger event hosted by L’Oreal at Forlino Restaurant @ One Fullerton. It was a cozy and casual lunch with all the beautiful bloggers and the nice ladies from L’Oreal – Stella and Adeline.

Getting to the restaurant was a torture under the hot sun. We lost our way at One Fullerton, but the staff from Forlino was kind enough to usher us all the way to the restaurant. How thoughtful!

Upon entering the Serena room…

We were astounded by the interior furnishings! What a nice and cosy private room to host an event at! I was attracted to the motif on the wall.

And not forgetting, the picturesque view overlooking Marina Bay.

They even provided pampering sessions for us!

We were introduced to the L’Oreal Paris Derma-Genesis Pore Minimising Smoother range by Adeline.

Here’s the entire range which consists of a scrub, toner and gel cream.

The Pore Minimising Smoother products contain Hyaluronic Acid, which has anti aging elements in it. This amazing ingredient helps to repair our skin which has been exposed to the many elements out there and also makes the skin plumped-up and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Another key ingredient is Pro-Xylane, which utilizes the activity of the extra-cellular matrix to tell aging cells what to do and transmits information to younger cells and re-stimulates older cells simultaneously.

We were each given a full set of the Pore Minimising Smoother range to try it out. Here’s my review for each of them.

Step 1: Cleanser / Scrub (S$14.90)

Step 2: Toner (S$15.90)

Self-explanatory, this toner is for tightening of the pores. No major breakouts and stinging sensation on my skin. Great!

Step 3: Moisturizer / Serum (S$29.90)

I am so glad that the moisturizer comes in a gel-like form. The texture is soft and smooth without feeling too oily.

It totally melted into the skin! My skin felt really smooth and supple after application. I like!

Now, let me showcase the sumptuous Italian cuisine we had! It was an organic and healthy lunch specially created for all the ladies!

A HUGE looking bread! A lot bigger than my palm! It tasted really buttery, slightly saltish and crispy on the outside.

Amuse Bouche, a complimentary appetizer prepared by the chef. It’s really refreshing. If I remember correctly, it’s made from tomatoes and cheese. Very juicy and yummy!

Carrot Cream Soup with Ginger and Watercress Foam. The carrot cream soup looks delicious though, but the foam. Hmm…

Green Asparagus, Fennel and Green Apple Salad with Autumn Truffle. Very atas name, but unfortunately it’s not to my liking at all.

Tagliolini with Chantarelle Mushrooms and Blueberry. This is one of my favourite dish of the lot! The mushrooms were really well simmered. I love it!

Veal Lion with Slow-cooked Artichokes, Extra Virgin Oil and Mashed Potatoes. Not too bad!

Poached Wild Salmon with White Asparagus and Terragon Sauce. The salmon tasted really juicy and fresh, no fishy stench at all.

Saffron Jelly with Strawberries and Balsamic Ice Cream. All the ladies were going “Ooh”, “Wow”, “Awww” when this dessert was being served. Dessert is a woman’s best friend. The balsamic ice cream was soooo refreshing and creamy. The strawberries and jellies are slightly sourish but not too over powering. Good for our taste buds!

Complimentary assorted chocolates were served after the dessert. My favorite is this white chocolate with crackling candies hidden within. It reminds me of the crackling candies we used to have in mama shops. Do they still have it?

The Pore Minimising Smoother range is available at all Watsons, Guardian, Metro, BHG, OG, Robinsons, John Little, Sasa, Mustafa and selected hyper/supermarkets.

HTC Unveils YOU Campaign and HTC Tattoo

HTC unveils the latest HTC Tattoo and rebranding of HTC at Butter Factory. The YOU campaign is being rolled out across 20 countries in the coming weeks and features the following witty tagline:

“You don’t need to get a phone. You need a phone that gets you”.

It mainly focuses on YOU, the consumers and not the device itself.

Back to the launch. Upon entering the club, we each got ourselves an Android tattoo on the back of our hands. Cute isn’t it?

Remember the flash mob which was held at Raffles Place and Orchard Road? We got a chance to get up close with them. Did you notice that the song lyrics focus on YOU? I think they really did a good job!

Other than that, they even presented a fashion show from Springfield.

And nail color. Don’t you think the content of the products look weird? Yes, they are made from actual cigarette ash. Would you put ash onto your skin? If you wouldn’t, why would you smoke? This whole advertising idea is just a marketing gimmick. Designed to look like the launch of a new cosmetics range, ASH is a new initiative launched by the Health Promotion Board as part of its Fresh Air For Women (FAFW) programme to target the increasing trend of women smokers in Singapore.

I did a scan and this is how I will look like when I turn 60. I’m glad I don’t smoke haha!
