It’s always a hassle to scoop out the cream from jars. I get really frustrated when the cream gets stuck under my fingernails and I had to switch using cotton buds or a spatula instead.

The PREVAGE® Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream comes with this innovative airless pump which makes your job so much easier. It allows you to press and dispense the product without applying too much on your skin.

Though slightly heavy, the cream gets absorbed pretty well. It doesn’t get too oily or greasy on the skin. The rich texture of the cream makes my skin extremely smooth and radiant when I woke up the next day.

It’s retailing at S$256 for 50g, more expensive than drugstore beauty brands but it’s a great product to own to see desirable results on your skin.

Ah Loy Thai Restaurant

We had a food tasting session held at Ah Loy Thai located at Shaw Towers. Prior to that, I had misunderstood this as another restaurant named A-Roy Thai. What’s with the almost similar names? *confused*

Looking at this makes me hungry again. Here are some dishes to feast your eyes.

Thai iced tea is a must order for me whenever I dine at Thai restaurants. Extremely effective to reduce the spiciness!

Some of my favorite dishes!

Fried Butter Calamari

You gotta try this dish, the butter sauce is finger-licking good! Look at the big, fat and juicy squids! I feel like trying to cook this myself haha!

Tom Yum Seafood Soup
Very spicy and authentic. What’s Thai food without tom yum?

Thai Garlic Pork
Never liked garlic but I love pork, so I had to try this dish. The taste of garlic is not too overwhelming, iLike!

Lemon Steam Fish
I was like the only one whacking this dish cos I love fish! The meat was so fresh and the gravy has this amazing taste of lemon, really refreshing.

Thai Basil Pork
Stir-fried to perfection. But it’s a tad too oily though.

There were more dishes but I was so bloated from the previous event (another blog post soon) that I couldn’t sample each and every dish.

Inspired by BFF, I’m penning a bite-size blog post on the activities which I’ve been busy with recently. Another reason is I have way too many backlogs to clear :x

Halloween at Universal Studios

My photo editing not bad right? Spooky eh? This year’s Halloween was spent at Universal Studios. It’s my 3rd time there lol! I swear this win hands down all other Halloween events I’ve been to.

Walk along the eerie streets and some random undead will scream at you. The haunted house was the scariest of all and we had to queue for 45 minutes. It was worth the wait though. There were like dead bodies hanging in mid-air and you can’t avoid body contact at all fml.

Journey of Indulgence with Haagen-Dazs

Thanks to Smith, I got onboard the Haagen-Dazs’s Journey of Indulgence with BFF, CCB and Tiphanie. There were free flow of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, champagne and chocolates. *yummeh* What a lovely experience!

BonJapan @ Orchard Central

Last year, I attended BonJapan’s media event held at SMU. Nearly a year later, they had expanded and opened a retail store at Orchard Central! What you can find in the store are exclusive snacks, soft toys, figurines and lots more! I love the kids beer and edamame pie soup, damn unique and really yummy! Homely Meal at ??? Oversea Restaurant

After the ice cream making workshop, we headed for lunch at Oversea Restaurant which is just next to Tom’s Palette. It has taken over the previous food court.

Hungry me, Tiphanie and Verlyn waiting for our food. There were a total of 13 homemade dishes for us to sample! Oversea Restaurant is a Cantonese restaurant originally from Malaysia and even though the branch in Singapore has operated for merely 9 months, it has left a deep impression on me. The food was really awesome, one more option for me to bring my family here for a meal!

Without further ado, here are the yummy 13 dishes to feast your eyes!

???? Fried Chilli Fish Paste Roll
The sauce tasted somewhat like the one in chilli crabs, super tasty! I ate it with rice and it was sooo good lol. The fish paste roll is extremely soft and chewy.

?? ??? Wok Fried Wanton with Pineapple
Similar to sweet and sour pork, only that they replaced the pork with fried wantons which still retains the crispy texture upon serving.

???? Braised Eggplant with Diced Prawns
I don’t fancy eggplant due to it’s slimy texture. Though I’d prefer it to be cooked with sambal chilli.

????? Wok Fried Crispy Sliced Pork with Bitter Gourd
Was quite amused by the description “??” lol! The meat was so tender and juicy. I’ve eaten bitter gourd that are extremely BITTER but this one wasn’t.

????? Stir Fried String Beans with Minced Meat
I thought the string beans were ??? but I was told it wasn’t. Anyway, this dish reminds me of the one my mum always cook. Only difference is she would add dried shrimps instead of minced meat heh heh!

?????? Deep Fried Carp Fish
Tender on the inside and crispy on the outside! The gravy complements the entire dish perfectly.

?????? Steamed Chicken with Salted Fish
Extremely succulent and tender chicken thigh meat. I love how they added lots of shredded ginger and chilli. As the Chinese saying goes, ????????

??????? Crispy Fish Fillet with Lemongrass and Grapefruit
Wish I had ate this but I didn’t get to try this dish at all :(

????? Yong Tau Foo with Deep Fried Beancurd Skin
I’ve always loved soups and this is no exception. It tasted really sweet, refreshing and all the essence is in the soup!

?????? ???? Sweet Potato with Beancurd Skin
You know sometimes when you cook potatoes it’s still hard on the inside. But the ones here were really soft and the gravy was fully absorbed by the potatoes. Super yummy!

????? Claypot Tomato Egg
Tomatoes, good for the skin! Look at that eggy goodness oh ma gawd~

????? Braised Beancurd with Meat Balls
Only managed to take a bite of the meat balls, they were really good!

????? Braised Pork Soft Ribs
Not sure if I got the name right. The soft ribs/bones literally melts in your mouth and the carrots and potatoes were really sweet.

????? Caramelized Char Siew
The legendary char siew, a must order if you visit Oversea Restaurant. Apparently, it’s so popular that you must call in advance to reserve it. The exterior is coated in malt candy and roasted to perfection, very different from the usual char siew we ate from hawker centres. The meat was extremely tender and nice, I don’t feel guilty eating it at all lol.

??? ???? Sesame Dumpling
Was quite surprised that it came in dry form. Look at the sugar glistening on the dumplings like pearls.

The total bill only comes up to about $203! That’s like only $20 per pax. Each dish only costs about $9.80 to $12.80, extremely affordable!

Spotted the char siew hanging near the entrance of the restaurant lol!

Ice Cream Making Workshop at Tom’s Palette

Woohoo! I went back to Tom’s Palette for an ice cream workshop organized by Elfaine from TheSampleStore! I never knew ice cream making could be that easy. Anyway, Tom’s Palette had expanded to almost three times! It certainly looked much more impressive!

All the raw ingredients can be found easily from supermarkets. Here’s a step by step guide on making your own ice cream at home!

And it’s all done! When I first saw the ice cream, I was like WOAH! Darn proud of myself lol! After which, we headed over to Overseas Restaurant next door for a food tasting session. I’ll leave that for another entry.

Ok, I can’t wait to try out the recipe myself. Maybe I’ll try a milo version or something. Now go ahead and make your own ice cream!

Five Stones Hostel Soft Launch Party

I was invited to the soft launch party of a new boutique hostel in town – Five Stones Hostel. If you’ve read my travelogue, you will know that I would usually choose hotels that are extremely comfortable, good accessibility to food & shopping places and most importantly, safe.

To be honest, I’ve never had a good impression on hostels. I blame the Hostel films hahaha! I feel that hostels are:

Dirty – Imagine having to deal with bed bugs and dirty toilets. Oh gosh, I can’t stand uncleanliness!
Dangerous – Sharing a room with strangers is bad enough, what if they resort to stealing, molesting and other nonsense?
Uncomfortable – Hard bed? No way, I need my plushy beds!

However, Five Stones Hostel made me changed my opinion on hostels! Let the pictures do the talking!

Lounge Area – You can watch TV, mingle around or read a nice book here! See those adorable five stones pillows lying around? They are handmade by the owners, how cute!
Internet Kiosk – Feeling bored? Feel free to use the computers provided to check your mail and surf the net. Not forgetting to mention, there is free WiFi throughout the hostel!
Snack Corner – Free breakfast is included, with local breakfasts on Tuesdays!
Washing Machines – Backpacking is all about traveling light. Hence, washing machines are provided for you to wash your laundry.
Shower Areas – Male and females have separate shower areas. Toiletries are all provided!
Storage Lockers – To keep all your barang barang safely.

Now on to the rooms!

The themed rooms are specially designed by local artists. Each of its 9 rooms is tastefully designed with a Singaporean cultural icon such as Vanda Miss Joaqium, Pick-Up Sticks and Chapteh. My favorite would be the Hopscotch room hee hee! Absolutely love the wall murals. Price for a bed starts from S$30 onwards.

Those who prefer privacy can select the private rooms, there’s even a TV in each room! Price for a room starts from $90 onwards.

Here’s what I love about Five Stones Hostel!

Plushy Bed – Top grade orthopaedic spring mattresses and warm snugly quilts. Oh boy! Don’t you feel like sleeping on the bed now?
Childhood Games – How nostalgic! It certainly brought back some childhood memories of mine since I grew up with them. *old*
Female-only Dorm – Rejoice girls! More privacy eh? Any ladies keen for a staycation?
Location – It’s just a 3 mins walk to Clarke Quay MRT. Key tourist attractions, restaurants, nightlife venues, shopping malls are within walking distance or a short 10 mins bus ride away.
Deals & Discounts – The hostel has collaborated with nearby tourist attractions, F&B outlets and spas to provide deals and discounts for its guests!

I first met Boss at an ex-company and for the first few days, he was supposedly my mentor. When I first saw him, he looked like some arrogant dude sitting at a corner all by himself. Flying Without Wings at iFly Singapore!

I FINALLY WENT FOR SKY DIVING! Indoor one lah heh heh! Yes, we went for iFly Singapore at Sentosa! Wanna try it too? Read on to find out how you can enjoy an exclusive promotion right here, at daintyflair.net!

The entire flight experience is amazing. At a height of 56.6ft and width of 16.5ft, iFly Singapore is the world’s largest indoor skydiving simulator. You can reach up to 5 storeys high! It’s the only wind tunnel that offers flyers an unparalleled view of the South China Sea and a nightly firework display from the nearby Songs of the Sea. We managed to catch a glimpse of the fireworks when we were there!

The entire body flight is themed like an airport terminal. You have to book a flight at the counter and proceed to check in.

After which, you will be ushered into a room for a simple training of the posture and hand signals which you must understand as it’s the only form of communication you will have with the flight instructor in the tunnel.

And we gear up! We were required to wear laced shoes for safety purposes! I managed to borrow a pair!

All ready! My face like kena squished like a bao.
