This Saturday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, hundreds of millions of people around the world will be turning off their lights to support Earth Hour.

Big players like Singapore Changi Airport, Resorts World Sentosa, NTUC, Malls along Orchard Road, The Singapore Flyer and Esplanade Theatres will be doing their part.

Remember to turn off the lights!

Miss Glitzy is organising a charity campaign called “Let’s Care and Celebrate!” and this is held in conjunction with her blog’s first anniversary and will benefit abused women and children from The Star Shelter (SCWO).

Give a Gift Charity Auction will start on 22 March (Monday) at 12pm right here. Basically, a group of bloggers (Fashion Nation, Fash-Eccentric, Cherry Magazine, Bagaholicboy, Renzze) will be contributing some items for the public to bid for and all proceeds will go to The Star Shelter.

The Perfect Moment

It has been a long time since boss and I went on a proper date. We brought along the Canon 450D which I had rented and went to Marina Barrage for photo taking!

The photos came out mad awesome! Look at the details of the fountain being captured! Ooh la la!

A view of the Singapore Flyer. It would look better without all the buildings blocking it. But still, it’s a beautiful sight.

It’s been a long time since I last flew a kite! A couple of years maybe?

We managed to camwhore using the DSLR haha. Pro!

And I did a star jump on the bridge. Boss refused to do it cos he’s shy. Act only!

The photos came out absolutely fantastic! We are saving up to get a Canon 500D! Hopefully we can get one by June.

The thing I love about Korean food is the amazing array of side dishes they usually gave. It’s free flow! Can eat till you puke!

After dinner, we headed down to the arcade to have a shot at this!

Surprisingly, we hit the JACKPOT!!! If only this happen in the casinos lol.

The Red Box Project – Have You Done Your Part?

It’s nice to know that people actually care these days. When I stumbled upon The Red Box Project, I knew I had to contribute somehow.

I’m glad to have Nicole who offered to contribute too. Thanks babe!

I rummaged through my store room and managed to find this box. Umm, it looks kinda dirty though.

After wrapping and shopping for gifts for the kid (a 5-7 year old girl), here’s the box which we have contributed!

I’m glad we can make these kids smile. Have you done your part yet?

The Red Box Project is a non-profit organization led by a group of youth who hopes to put a smile on the faces of 700 less-fortunate children this Lunar New Year.

K Suites @ Iluma

This is a long overdue post. I found out that Kbox @ Jurong Safra has the same concept at a fraction of the price. The only difference is that they don’t provide free internet service, bedroom slippers and comforter. Also, their beverage selection is far better than K Suites.

Those who read my blog frequently should know that I hate Kbox due to the terrible service I’ve experienced before. However, K Suites is a total new concept and I was quite eager to try it out.

K Suites is tucked away in a corner at Level 3 of Illuma. The charges are at $12/hour/pax with a minimum spending of $10/pax for beverages. Not very affordable, but the service is worth commending though. Even much better than Kbox. Is that why they are charging at a higher rate?

Upon entering the karaoke lounge, you’ll spot the bar counter…

And a nice, cosy area for you to chill out.

Here’s our room. I didn’t manage to get the one with a huge bed cos I heard that it was at the rate of $38/hour/pax. Holy crap! I can use that money to have a nice high-tea session.

Song selections are done on this touch screen device. Very cool, but not many artistes are available. Probably still very new though.

And a smaller one right beside the door. Convenient for those who are sitting far away from the larger one.

Light snacks and towels for our usage.

There are two TV screens provided in each room. Soccer fans get to watch their favorite football channels from the screen on the top. But I don’t like it lah! I went with boss and his friends to Jurong Safra’s Kbox and they were shouting at the top of their voices all the time. I can’t even sing in peace lor!

We were provided with free internet access too! Not too bad, but I wonder if it’s safe to key in our personal details?

Drinks that cost us $10 each. No bubble teas, no smoothies, just these. Alamak! I would rather go to Starbucks to have a nice cuppa.

Food menu. Look at the pricing.

In the end, I got this $12 worth of chicken wings, but utterly disappointed. It was not cooked properly can?!

Slippers for us! Machiam like 5 stars hotel hoho!

Plus a nice and comfy comforter.

To have fun at karaoke lounges, you need a good companion. Here’s mine!

Would I go back to K Suites? I doubt so. But if only they lower their prices, I might!

A Walk Through Kitty Lab

The Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Project (a.k.a. Kitty Lab) made its way to Singapore after its success in Hong Kong. The mouthless cat is 35 years old but she’s getting cuter and prettier each day.

The exhibition that was held at Hall 1 was way over at the other end of the convention halls. Imagine the distance I had to walk before finally reaching the lab!

Here’s the ticketing booth. We arrived at around 7.30pm on a weekday and it wasn’t that crowded. There were a number of kids but most of the visitors were adults.

We took the map…

…and our passes before proceeding to the lab.

We arrived at the entrance of the lab and I remember that photo-taking was disallowed, spoil the entire mood can? But I’m the rebellious one. I whipped out my camera and started taking photos even though “NO PHOTO & VIDEO” was pasted all over the lab. They did mention that we can take photos as long as their staff don’t catch us doing it. But none of the staff stopped us anyway.

I know I’m evil, but heck.

Here’s the KTA (Hello Kitty’s DNA module). We’ve got to hold this device and walk around the lab to complete missions and quests at the various stations to create our own Hello Kitty. I think this concept would appeal more to the kids.

This is Dr Kitty! Apparently, she met with an explosion in the lab so that explains why her hair is like that. I think it’s pretty cute though.

This is the police station. If we lose our way or the KTA, we can head down to the police station and the police officer would be able to help us. I wanted to take a photo of the cute police officer but he said that he’s not allowed to do so. Too bad.

Fancy a haircut at the salon? I just hope that we will not get the same hairstyle as Dr Kitty.

Wanna enroll into the Kitty College? (Psst, the staff looked really bored lol. )

Star Museum, where we get to choose our Hello Kitty’s constellation. Wanted to choose Aquarius, but it’s randomly selected and I kena Capricorn instead.

Here’s the end of the exhibition. With that, we headed off to the Nekosen Station and proceeded to the souvenir section.

Before we could even reach there, we had to surrender our KTA at the customs and our customized Hello Kitty will be determined in a short while!

These are our customized Hello Kitty, Xuan being the Troubled Kitty and me being the Ninja Kitty. How cute!

We completed our missions within 35 minutes and got these badges.

These are the souvenirs that were on sale that day.

Err I bought the Hello Kitty cap. Now I am wondering if I have use for it.

Xuan bought this limited edition plushie.

Night Festival 2009

The most talked-about event of the year is finally back! Night Festival 2009 is set to dazzle over a weekend on 10 and 11 July.

Festival goers can indulge in an outdoor extravaganza of theatrical performances with live music and dance, and experience delightful interactive light installations created in and around the Bras Basah precinct.

The street level buzz will start by 7.30pm stretching to the wee hours of the morning at 2am. Singapore acts will take centre-stage this year – Bersama Hijau, the spectacular opening show of dance, percussion and vocals by 80 talented performers, all ready to delight and enchant.

The Festival will culminate in a fantastic pyrotechnics show by Action Theatre PAN.OPTIKUM from Germany.
