K Suites @ Iluma

This is a long overdue post. I found out that Kbox @ Jurong Safra has the same concept at a fraction of the price. The only difference is that they don’t provide free internet service, bedroom slippers and comforter. Also, their beverage selection is far better than K Suites.

Those who read my blog frequently should know that I hate Kbox due to the terrible service I’ve experienced before. However, K Suites is a total new concept and I was quite eager to try it out.

K Suites is tucked away in a corner at Level 3 of Illuma. The charges are at $12/hour/pax with a minimum spending of $10/pax for beverages. Not very affordable, but the service is worth commending though. Even much better than Kbox. Is that why they are charging at a higher rate?

Upon entering the karaoke lounge, you’ll spot the bar counter…

And a nice, cosy area for you to chill out.

Here’s our room. I didn’t manage to get the one with a huge bed cos I heard that it was at the rate of $38/hour/pax. Holy crap! I can use that money to have a nice high-tea session.

Song selections are done on this touch screen device. Very cool, but not many artistes are available. Probably still very new though.

And a smaller one right beside the door. Convenient for those who are sitting far away from the larger one.

Light snacks and towels for our usage.

There are two TV screens provided in each room. Soccer fans get to watch their favorite football channels from the screen on the top. But I don’t like it lah! I went with boss and his friends to Jurong Safra’s Kbox and they were shouting at the top of their voices all the time. I can’t even sing in peace lor!

We were provided with free internet access too! Not too bad, but I wonder if it’s safe to key in our personal details?

Drinks that cost us $10 each. No bubble teas, no smoothies, just these. Alamak! I would rather go to Starbucks to have a nice cuppa.

Food menu. Look at the pricing.

In the end, I got this $12 worth of chicken wings, but utterly disappointed. It was not cooked properly can?!

Slippers for us! Machiam like 5 stars hotel hoho!

Plus a nice and comfy comforter.

To have fun at karaoke lounges, you need a good companion. Here’s mine!

Would I go back to K Suites? I doubt so. But if only they lower their prices, I might!

Hort Park – The Gardening Hub

Over the weekend, we went Hot.. I mean Hort Park for a stroll. Hort Park, a shortened term for Horticulture Park is a one-stop gardening hub that focuses on gardening-related, recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one big canopy in a park setting. A walk through shows you an array of gardening landscapes

I tried to hide from the sun, but failed. It’s way too HOT!

I told boss to walk gracefully, but he ended up looking like this

I’ve heard that owning a cactus helps you to ward off evil, but at the same time it causes death if you place it inside your house. It puts me in a dilemma whether to get one or not

Uniqlo @ Tampines 1

Move aside Giordano, Hang Ten, Bossini, etc. Here comes Uniqlo, Japan’s NUMBER ONE casual wear brand! Uniqlo at Tampines 1 is the very first outlet to be launched in Singapore and Southeast Asia! Another outlet would be at ION Orchard (TBC). Being an extremely proud resident of Tampines for the past 24 years, I chiong all the way to the mall after my work only to find out the horrible truth! shocked

Lots and lots of patrons inside the store. I refused to get in the first time and went to explore around the mall

The entire mall started to get crowded.

And REALLY crowded :doh: How to shop like that? :disbelief:

I went up to the rooftop to get a breather :hehe:

I turned back to Uniqlo hoping that the queue would get shorter :s

Instead…

… it gets even worse! :argh: Is this gonna be another Donut Factory craze?! I HOPE NOT! shocked

Uniqlo will be having a 10-day celebration offer from 9 – 19 April 2009! :love:

Other than the highly raved Uniqlo, there are other stores like Bakerzin, Challenger, Dorothy Perkins, Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant, New Urban Male, Recoil, Topshop, etc. Ok there are too many to name. Drop by to explore yourself :D

I shall return back once the hype is over since it’s just a stone’s throw away from home I will camp myself every weekend at Tampines as Jurong Point is already getting boring :x Meanwhile, visit the website to get more information about the mall hee

Virgin Trip to Batam

This is a lonnngggg overdue post which I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the photos to arrive. Already two months and I still didn’t get the pictures from my friend’s friend. I gave up ok! Two months to upload pictures? wth I think by the time the photos came, I may be getting married already :argh: (nah, that’s 5 years later :D ) Lesson learnt

I have been travelling all around the world for 21 years but this is the first time I went to Batam. Don’t laugh, but it’s true :doh: Dang, I missed the days where I can travel freely without paying anything. It sucks to be an adult isn’t it? hee

We had A&W for dinner! Missed it so much! The Indonesians call it “Ah Wai” haha :D

Nail art galore! I had a hard time selecting the design I want :panic:

After some consideration, here are my pwetty nails! :D I designed them myself. I think I’m pretty talented in this. I’m gonna pick up acrylic nail art! :no:

I lugged back 11 tubs of Mandi Lulur from the hypermarket :wiggle:

Mandi Lulur, often used in spas and villas in Batam, Bali, Bintan, etc woot Surprisingly, it only costs S$1.40/tub! 10 times cheaper than the salt scrub sold at The Body Shop! :lol:

Look at its smooth, creamy and milky texture. I like! :D

Singapore Fireworks Celebration 2008

Was at the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations @ Marina Bay during the weekend. Curse the weather, but still it was an enjoyable event. The fireworks were extremely magnificent and spectacular! Oh gosh. You need to be at the actual scene to experience it. Enjoy the fireworks galore! :D

Martini Innercity Festival 2008

The Martini Innercity Festival (MIC) is a 21-day festival held from 11 July – 14 August 2008 where you could sample specially blended martinis from participating bars and pubs all over Singapore. DK and the organizers of BLOG2u was generous enough to invite me to the event. Thanks guys! :erm:

The nifty menu that was presented to us @ Zouk Wine Bar.

I am an absolute noob when it comes to liquor. Thank God I have the professional bloggers to help me out :D

Some of the martinis that we get to try – Choya Martini, Espresso Martini, Healthitini, Hersheys Martini, Kyoto Killer, Tropicaltini and Lychee Martini.

At first I requested for Kyoto Killer, but I was told that the alcohol percentage was much higher than the rest of the martinis. Worrying that I might get tipsy, I changed it to Tropicaltini instead :secret: However, I would still prefer my favourite Lychee Martini hee

Thereafter, we drove over to House @ Dempsey Road to try out more martinis :p Finally! I’ve been really eager to visit Dempsey a long long time ago! (it’s a great place for dating :wiggle: )

Prawning! I went prawning again at Lakeside Fishing Village since my last visit there 2 years ago

The 1st prawn we caught. Unfortunately, we only caught 6 prawns within a span of 4 hours lol :D That’s a bad achievement. And no, I didn’t get to eat the prawns hmm Gonna try our luck at Bottle Tree the next time. I am seriously addicted to prawning :lol:

On a random note, here’s an MRT & LRT plan I found online. Wonder what will my career be, how old my kids will be and what awaits me when it completes. Will I be an old hag by then? Haha :wiggle:

Singapore Garden Festival 2008

Company Anniversary Gala Dinner

My company’s anniversary gala dinner was held at The Ritz Carlton. It was definitely a blast! I’m quite lucky to be able to take part in two major events within 2 months of working at this company where I get to meet people from all walks of life

Did my own nails. I think I have a flair in it :p

Of course not forgetting to camwhore with my ugly hairstyle and bling :D I had a bad experience with the hair stylist. Knowing that I was in a rush, that guy was particularly chatty and that made me really irritated. He did my hair hastily without any professionalism at all :doh:

We had to go through the compulsory procedure. You can imagine the number of VIPs attending this event

The grand ballroom where we held the dinner =) We have a total of 80 tables consisting of clients from all over the world.

This is my beloved superior who took really good care of me. She’s like a mentor, a mum and a friend =)

There was an array of pretty flowers displayed just outside the ballroom. Aren’t they gorgeous? :kiss:

Of course, there are food! This is my personal favourite, Codfish with Mushrooms and greens

And the oh-so-sinful Panna Cotta with berries and chocolate cake :drunk:

Though the day ended abruptly, it was definitely a great event which I’m glad I had a part in it :blush:
