Hong Kong Day 5 – Mongkok Wed, 18 August 10

Jacelyn • Filed under: Travel 11:47 pmComments(2)

This marked the last day of our trip to Hong Kong. :(: We didn’t get to follow the itinerary I had planned initially. But still, the time I had with silly boss is well spent. :love4:

Last day, at Mong Kok! ;)

Boss was telling me that SMRT had used the idea from Hong Kong’s MTR. I ain’t sure about that, but one thing I am pretty sure is that the Hongkies are really well disciplined. Look at the markings on the floor and the exit area. Singaporeans, please learn from them lah! :blah:

Us in the train! I think some people mentioned that the train system in Hong Kong is worse as the population in Hong Kong is much higher than ours. Total bullshit can?! :blank:

The Hongkies are more civilized as they don’t push their way into the train like kan cheong spiders. Also, they would stand at the right side of the escalator and let the other commuters pass through on the left. Kudos to them! :smileyhappy3:

We dropped by at the ever popular Ladies’ Market for bargain shopping! Things are really cheap there (but mostly fake). Haha.

Heeee :love4: :love4: :love4:

What’s up with the chicken lingerie. It looks extremely funny can?! :smileyhappy3:

At Fa Yuen Street to shop for sports goods! :jump:

And then, it rained again! Dang! Out of 5 days, it rained 4 days. Major sian. :blah: Anyways, we forgot our ponchos and bought a HKD25 umbrella and quickly made our way to…

Langham Place! :cloud9:

Awesome structure of the mall. Better than ION! :tongue2:

Found LUSH! YAYYYYYYY!!! :dance1:

Got my LUSH bath bombs. WOO HOOO! :love3: But I had forgotten where I kept them! Arghhhhh! :alamak:

We strolled around the eateries area and found Yoshinoya. I think I am quite bo liao to eat Yoshinoya in Hong Kong. But the thing is, they serve pork! Darn delicious! Haha. :smileyhappy3:

Langham Place is smacked right in the middle of Mong Kok. A very nice place to shop all day long! Man, I shall stay at Langham Place Hotel the next time! :minnie9:

We walked across the street and I saw something familiar.

OH YES it’s 许留山! :happy2:

许留山 a.k.a Hui Lau Shan is one of the most famous dessert chain in Hong Kong. They are everywhere on the streets! :marie5: You MUST try this if you are in Hong Kong! :smileyhappy2:

They feature mainly mango with all kinds of combination with fruits, coconut and jellies. Love mango, yums! :drool1:

Happy to find this gem yay! :marie10:

I ordered their mango with Pulut Hitam and coconut milk. The chunks of mango are really sweet. Simply heavenly!

Now you see it.

Now you don’t! *wipes saliva* Yes, it is THAT GOOD.

Boss had Strawberry with Mango puree drink. :dessert3:

After having our dessert, we went back to our hotel to check out and took the airport express bus to the airport. Very sad, have to leave Hong Kong soon. :(:

Rain again!

The moment we reached the airport, we were hungry again! :alamak: But this sucks! :disgust:

Bought the pineapple salted egg pastry. Darn good! Anything with salted egg is TASTY! Yummeh! :smileyhappy2: After this trip, confirm gained weight! :alamak:

Now, I am wondering when will the next trip be? :sad3:

Hong Kong Day 4 – Harbour City, Ocean Park, Central Mon, 16 August 10

Jacelyn • Filed under: Travel 11:30 pmComments(0)

The lovely weather and scenery is such a bliss. :flower5: But shortly after, it started to drizzle. Quite romantic eh haha. :love1:

Seems like boss is still in sleeping mode. :blank:

My fat face. Blah! :damnit:

Boss’s big head. WHAHHAHHA! Hope it didn’t scare you. :tongue2:

The reason why we are at Harbour City – New York Fries! Awfully sinful but absolutely delicious! :love1: The generous portions of mayo and bacon made us drool. :drool2:

Can somebody franchise this? I can be the ambassador! :smileyhappy3:

Up next, Ocean Park! Kinda regretted going there, we should have planned to go Disneyland. :(: Oh wells, probably next time. Macau + Disneyland! :tongue1:

The never-ending escalator.

While waiting to reach the top, camwhore time! :love3:

Silly boss heh heh! :dance1:

Acting cute!

One of the attractions, boring. :blah:

So camwhore again! HEE! :tongue2:

We went for the dolphin sea lion show but it kept raining non-stop! And sadly, we didn’t get our seats! :(: Not only that, those PRCs were pushing and yelling throughout the entire show. This woman even used her wet umbrella and shove it onto Boss’s newly bought H&M bermudas. He got really pissed and scolded her, macho! :shocked1:

After the show, we managed to squeeze through the crowd and proceeded to our next destination.

Couldn’t resist this. Bagus!

Back to Central!

Coach! No money to buy leh. :(:

H&M! Bought a few apparels there and the entire boutique is awesome! Too bad they disallow photo-taking. :blah: Can someone bring this brand to Singapore too? :love3:

Walked down a few streets and spotted Tsui Wah Restaurant, recommended by my secret manual address book! Hee hee. :wink1:

The interior of the restaurant. :)

My dinner. It may look bland but the huge fishballs are delicious! :jump:

Boss had crispy noodles. Love the tao geh! :tongue2:

Sauteed chicken wings. Too salty! Haha.

Their best selling condensed milk butter bun. It’s truly amazing that such a simple food can be that delicious! The bun is drizzled with condensed milk, spread with butter and toasted to perfection. The moment we sink our teeth into the bun, it melted in our mouths! It’s really moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. *drools* :drool2:

We even dabaoed one more back for supper, though we are extremely bloated already. :tongue2:

Even though we are on the verge of puking, we knew we had to try this out the moment we saw it. Guess what? Bird’s nest egg tart! Atas anot?

TMD this taste like shit. The mango is too sour. :(:

Papaya with white fungus. Good for the skin!

At last, I found Chan Yee Jai! :jump:

Their signature bird’s nest cake. Very fluffy and light. Yums! :drool1:

Spot the bird’s nest! :smileyhappy3:

Hong Kong Day 3 – Macau Sun, 25 July 10

Jacelyn • Filed under: Travel 11:58 pmComments(0)

We checked out from Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees the night before and headed down to Largos Hotel at Jordan. No photos of the hotel though cos I think it suck. I miss the plushy bed at Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees! :(: Anyway…

Here we are at Hulu Cafe, the most decent looking cafe along that lane.

Borsch soup.

My udon soup with char siew. The soup was really delish. :drool2:

Boss’s curry fillet. The tasteless greens really puts me off.

开动咯! :eat:

After lunch, we decided to spend the day in Macau since Boss gian gian also wanna go to the casinos. That gambler. :blah:

Surprisingly, the ferry was extremely spacious and spanking clean. It’s even more worth it than the ferry I took to Batam! :shocked1:

Bleah! :tongue2:

City of Dreams! We didn’t get to go though, maybe next time! ;)

The moment we alighted from the ferry, we rushed to the bus terminal to take the shuttle to The Venetian! Yay! :happy2:

It was raining but that didn’t dampen our mood! :weather12:

Galaxy Casino! It will be ready in 2011. We’ll definitely be here again! :cloud9:

At last, we arrived at The Venetian! :smileyhappy3:

IMPRESSIVE! :shocked2: The entire casino looks exactly like a palace!

The cast from Boys Over Flowers did their filming here! Gu Jun Pyo~~~ :love4:

My own “Gu Jun Pyo” lol! :tongue1:

Goodness, even the restroom looks MAGICAL!

Just had to take a photo here keke. :tongue2:

We tried our luck at the casino and won SGD100 over. Not too bad for amateurs! :smileyhappy2: Now I truly understand why Boss kept insisting to come here. It’s pretty addictive to gamble in the casino. But we are disciplined enough to leave before we lose all our winnings. :smileyhappy3:

We took a cab down to Senado Square, another tourist attraction in Macau. :)

Camwhore! See the uncle beside me? He bumped into me without looking, must be some tiko pek! There is so much space around him but he just had to walk that close to me. Siao one! :blah:

Ruins of St. Paul’s! If you’ve never been here, you’ve never been to Macau!

Yummeh fries. Bagus!

Found the stall that Ji Hoo brought Jan Di to! :tongue2:

TADAAA! But I think the egg tarts are so-so only.

After gobbling down the egg tarts, we made our way to Little Venice at Fisherman’s Wharf! Fantastic place I must say. :smileyhappy2:

Lomantic wor! :love2: I wanna go Macau again! :(:

The sky got darker and darker, so we decided to head back to Hong Kong. We were tired like mad!

SEE! Playing with my phone again. :blah:

Hong Kong Day 2 – The Peak and Central Wed, 7 July 10

Jacelyn • Filed under: Travel 10:15 amComments(0)

The journey in Hong Kong continues…

It was my dear boss’s very first trip to Hong Kong, hence I had to make it memorable and fun for him. :lovebear1:

I dragged him up at 9am to take the public bus outside our hotel to Tsim Sha Tsui and transit to the MTR for breakfast! :dessert2:

Fortunately, we bought the airport express ticket which entitles us to unlimited rides on the MTR for 3 consecutive days. :)

We searched for the restaurant for more than 20 minutes and finally arrived! :omg:

Everyone was queuing up for the restaurant to open. That’s how well-known it is. :love3:

Everyone just CHEONG when the doors opened. :shocked1:

Within 30 minutes, the entire restaurant was fully filled. :shocked3: Madness!

Happy boss can finally have his dim sum. :wink1:

Siew mai with crab roe. I don’t eat siew mai back in Singapore, but these tasted very very different. :eat:

Boss never fail to order char siew bao, which I don’t like to eat. :blah:

Again, boss’s char siew pastry. :shift: Buay sian.

Chee cheong fun with shrimp! The one at Wan Dou Sek tasted better.

Spring roll. Boring. :blank:

The buns I have been looking high and low for! These are not ordinary buns! :tongue2:

They are filled with really delish salted egg custard! :drool2: Glad that we came here, else we would be missing on one of the best dishes in Hong Kong.

After breakfast, we headed off to Central to visit The Peak. :kitty2:

Choo choo tram.

Thankfully, we got a seat as the ride to The Peak is extremely steep.

This was what we saw when we got up there. TAMADE!

Everywhere is foggy lor! :(: Sian to the max! :blank:

Bo bian, still have to take a photo for memory’s sake.

My first time at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum! :wink1:

Bruce Lee, ah doi!

Boss and his favoritest idol ever, Jay Chou.

Aaron Kwok. Does he have eternal youth or something?

Boss and his idol Brad Pitt.

Andy Lau, another 千年老妖。

Auntie killer Bae Yong Joon.

Princess Diana, who’s a head taller than me. :sad3:

Boss, Obama and Bush.

Die Hitler die! :blah:

Boss and his clone! Don’t you think they look alike? WHAHAHAHA!

My ancestor. ;)

Lee Kuan Yew.

Boss and Astro Boy. LOL WTF! Silly boss.

Donnie Yen.

Johnny Depp. Loves! :love3:

David Beckham.

Smelling his armpit. :alamak:

Tiger Tiger, pants on fire! Bastard.

The legendary King of Pop.

Madonna. Hee hee. Where’s Lady Gaga?

We got bored and went back to Central.

Cute bus! :)

It started pouring the moment we stepped out of the MTR station, so we settled our dinner at a random cha chan teng.

I had century egg porridge, bland and tasteless. :blah:

Almond milk, very nourishing for the skin. Me like! :jump:

We went back to Kowloon station since there would be a free shuttle that we can take to go back to our hotel. We were told that the bus is named “Lucy”, or did we hear wrongly? Boss and I had a good laugh at it.

We waited for at least 30 minutes but still no sign of “Lucy”.

不要拍!不要拍! Machiam like paparazzi.

We gave up waiting and headed off to IFC mall.

The super atas cinema.

They even have a chic cafe in the cinema. Wooo! :love1:

Paid $30 for these tickets, non-3D ok! :blank:

If only the cinemas here get macho-looking guys for their cinema attendants too! :tongue2:

Prince of Persia! :kitty4:

After movie, we jalan jalan around the area and night market before heading back to the hotel. I wonder what awaits us the next day. :confused2:

Hong Kong Day 1 – Kowloon Sun, 13 June 10

Jacelyn • Filed under: Travel 12:00 pmComments(6)

The plan for this trip came when I won two nights stay via Wotif’s Christmas promo. Boss has been telling me that he die die also wanna go Hong Kong and I had to push back my plans for Taiwan. But since he’s paying for the air tickets, why not? :smileyhappy3:

Unfortunately, this mafan guy gave me more problems. He’s unable to take more than 3 days of leave and have to travel on Vesak Day. I have no choice but to book Tiger Airways, which is damn shitty. Major sian.

One of the worst airlines ever, I called their customer service hotline on that very morning to ensure that our flight doesn’t delay. Guess what happened? The flight details printed on the booking confirmation was WRONG!

The correct flight should be TR2964/TR2965 and not TR2924/TR2925. I explained to the lady over the phone that it’s being printed as TR2924 on my paper. She told me that it’s impossible. I asked her if she’s telling me that either I am BLIND or I can’t read numbers. She still insisted that it’s impossible and all along, the flight is TR2964/TR2965. :blank:

Nevermind, I gave up arguing with this bitch. :disgust: No wonder they have a “fan page” dedicated to them. :blah:

Just when you thought that my problems with Tiger Airways ended here, you are wrong. When I was about to unpack, I realized that someone had changed/reset the security pin on my luggage! I had no idea who did such an unscrupulous act but I presume that someone must have tried to pry open my luggage.

Wanna go on Tiger Airways? Think twice. :blank:

Hokay, enough about ranting.

We had lunch at T2 and boss happily hogged my iPhone. :blah:

Camwhore while waiting for our flight at Budget Terminal. They used to have tons of cockroaches roaming around the terminal, thank god they ain’t there anymore.

Cheapo looking terminal. :blah:

Took a second look at our flight details.

And then, we boarded the plane.

Super uncomfy seats. I had backache after I alighted from the plane. :sad3:

Don’t know which woman left her period stains here. Ewww! :shocked2:

We managed to survive in the shitty plane and arrived in Hong Kong! :happy2:

Took a cab to our hotel which cost us SGD50+. :blah:

Our hotel! :dance2:

Architects designed this hotel with an optical illusion. Amazing isn’t it? :wink1: We then proceeded to our room, feeling all excited. :dance1:

Plushy bed! Mad happy! :love3:

Dining area.

Mini kitchen.

Awesome plasma.

Full length mirror. Great for vain people like me!

Day bed. Shiok! :love1:

Got microwave oven somemore! ;)

The most important item – BATHTUB! :lovebear1:

Spanking clean bathroom! :minnie9:

Splendid view just across our room.

After unpacking, we headed out in search of food and I spotted this cute-looking dog. Nearly kidnapped it back to Singapore.

They even brought their dogs to 7-11! :shocked1:

We found this cha chan teng nearby and settled for dinner. :eat:

Wanton noodle shop.

The wontons were extremely succulent! HEE HEE! :tongue2:

We strolled around the area and headed back to snuggle in bed and soak ourselves in the bathtub. SHIOK!

Stay tuned for Day 2! :love4:
