The lovely folks at ICON and Sofitel had hosted us for 2 nights each at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit and Sofitel So Bangkok where each hotel has its own unique concept. Check out my previous review for Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.
Sofitel So Bangkok is a 30-storey urban design hotel by Christian Lacroix, a widely-known French designer. With the inspirations from 4 Thai interior designers, the 4 elements – Water, Earth, Wood and Metal are reflected in the designs of the themed rooms. Whereas for Fire, it has to be their restaurants. The hotel is located at the business district, pretty similar to our Shenton Way. Travelling down to the other areas for shopping is generally convenient to do so, either by BTS or cab.
Every single area of the hotel has been painstakingly designed accordingly to the themes. The 5-star hotel overlooks Lumphini Park and has 238 rooms including 28 suites. Each room is unique and you are bound to find a room that suits your personality and preference best.
Mini welcome snacks and lovely night view at Sofitel So Bangkok
We were being hosted at one of their So Club rooms and hence, we get to enjoy club benefits with personalized check-in as well as sipping on yummy cocktails and nomming on snacks while enjoying the lovely night view.
We had a hard time choosing our favorite room but eventually settled on the Water element room!
The Water element room overlooks the picturesque Lumphini Park. Check out that huge bathtub, imagine having a hot bubble bath and relaxing in it. Gosh, I miss our stay there! smile The room is well-equipped with basic necessities, snacks, and even an Apple Mac mini for usage.
Awesome looking pool but we didn’t get a chance to dip in. sad
We had a tour around the hotel and were introduced to the rest of the themed rooms as well.
The Wood element room has pretty earthy tones to give a zen-like feel.
The Metal element room is more minimal-looking.
The Earth element room is pretty unique with its cave-like setting.
The day ended with a relaxing massage at So Spa. The luxurious spa is themed as a mythical forest as you can tell from its decor. Brands like Cinq Mondes from France and Ytsara from Thailand are being selected as the exclusive spa products for So Spa.
For those of you who are looking to have a luxurious and comfortable stay in Bangkok, Sofitel So Bangkok is highly recommended as it provides all-round services. Even though the prices can be slightly steep, the rooms, facilities and services that you are paying for are definitely worth it.
