If it is your first visit to Seoul, Gyeongbokgung is definitely one of the places that you have to include in your itinerary. It is rich in historical cultural that makes every area worth exploring. Based on my experience, here are the 4 things that you have to do at Gyeongbokgung.
Spend a day at Gyeongbokgung Palace
By paying an entrance fee of 3,000 won, you will get to explore the entire majestic palace. The palace was so huge and due to time constraint, we only managed to explore the throne hall and gates. It’s a pity that we didn’t get to view the rest of the attractions like the pavilion and shrine. The royal guard changing ceremony also takes place from 10am to 3pm daily except for Tuesday. I have to visit the palace again on my next trip! smile
Explore Bukchon Hanok Village
Dated back to the Joseon Dynasty, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to many traditional houses. A walk down the lane of Bukchon allows you to admire the pretty traditional architecture. Be sure to keep your voice down as the village still resides many residents. Find out more about our experience at the village here!
Stroll, shop and eat at Samcheongdong
Samcheongdong is a small town bustling with lots of cafes and restaurants. We walked past this small town in our hanbok while looking for Bukchon Hanok Village. The modern look of the restaurants and shops blended in with the traditional landscape which is extremely photo-worthy.
Try out the best chicken ginseng soup at Tosokchon Samgyetang
Known to serve the best samgyetang in Seoul, this traditional dish warmed our hearts with its authentic taste. Read more about my review of the dish here.
This is the last post of my trip to Korea. Will probably plan a solo trip to the land of kimchi someday. 잘가 (bye)! smile
