Comprising of an upscale, modern looking seafood market, sushi bar, restaurants and gourmet grocery, Addiction Aquatic Development 上引水產 (AAD) is definitely the place to go to if you are looking for good quality and affordable sushi.
Being a seafood fanatic, I knew I had to add this place to our itinerary during our stay in Taipei, and I didn’t regret doing so. We took the metro and alighted at Xingtian Temple station, which was a 10-15 mins walk from there. Plan your itinerary properly as it can get really crowded, especially during meal times.
So what was the hype about AAD?
Live Aquamarine Area
What first greeted us was this massive live aquamarine area with king crabs, abalones, scallops, clams, you name it, they have it. You can select your seafood and the staff will cook it for you on the spot. How cool is that?
If you are pressed for time, you can simply grab a bento or ready-to-eat food like snow crabs, unagi, seafood, sashimi and do takeaways. It’s that convenient.
Their grocery section is massive! They have everything – meats, fruits, frozen seafood, ice cream, mentaiko, chips, sauces and the list goes on. It reminds me of Emporium but on a larger scale.
There’s even a florist here, with some merchandises on sale.
The Sushi Bar is the most popular eatery here, we were lucky that we didn’t have to wait for long before we get seats. Uh no, we had to literally stand throughout the whole meal though. Other areas are the Hot Pot, Charcoal Grill and Seafood Bar, which are not as popular.
Chefs in preparation.
We were given a complimentary miso soup with salmon bits. Super yums!
Fresh sashimi set with salmon, tuna, prawn and sea bream.
The Deluxe Sushi set is totally worth the calories and is an affordable indulgence priced at NT$600 (S$28) which is worth repeated orders. They have other sushi sets ranging from NT$210-NT$980, which nothing in Singapore comes close to this kind of pricing and quality.
Happily tucking in! smile I’ll definitely revisit if I’m ever in Taiwan again.
