Taiwan: Miyahara 宮原眼科

Used to be an eye clinic, Miyahara 宮原眼科 has turned into one of the most popular places to visit in Taichung, especially if you are looking for souvenirs to purchase. The interior is pretty remarkable, with high ceilings and nostalgic wooden furnishings. You can’t miss the building across the road as it’s pretty eye catching. smile

It was even crowded on a weekday afternoon. What you will get here are pineapple cakes, cheesecakes, chocolates, tea, cookies and snacks. We had a great time exploring the retail store. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and they are not stingy when it comes to sampling all their tea and pastries. Their products are mostly sold in very luxurious and beautiful packaging, in which they are very much focused on showcasing the nostalgia designs and unique packaging like retro vinyl and old books.

The most popular item to buy here would be their ice cream. They have a wide variety of flavours to choose from and 20 of them are chocolate flavours from different origins, the rest are mostly tea and fruit flavours. That’s pretty impressive! heart We tried the 80% chocolate, melon and earl grey. We were spoilt for choices when it comes to the toppings, you get things like pineapple cake, chocolate balls, cheesecake, biscuits, fruits and nuts. Honestly, the ice cream are of average quality, I would think that the toppings made it look better.

If you are looking for a place to buy yummy Taiwanese snacks, do check out Miyahara. smile
