We started off our meal with these interesting drinks – Energy Enhancer and Super Smoothie. I had Super Smoothie, a super addictive drink made from fresh fruits. Managed to finish two glasses of this. tongue

Deep Fried Spiny Lobster Salad
****½

Here comes the first dish to whet our appetite, it looks extremely appetizing with its fanciful plating. The juicy lobster meat is deep fried to perfection but still retains its succulence. The creamy dressing tastes a little tangy and light without overpowering the sweetness of the lobster.

Braised Treasure Chicken in Lotus Leaf
***½

Not exactly photo-worthy but this dish stole my heart somehow. The bits of chicken meat, mushrooms, carrots and water & Chinese chestnuts is extremely flavorful with every bite, thanks to the savoury sauce. A typical Chinese way of cooking, the lotus leaf imparts a lovely fragrance to the dish.

Homemade Water Chestnut Beancurd with Spiced Meat
***

I can taste crunchy bits of water chestnuts in the beancurd with every bite. Drizzled with the salty spices meat, the beancurd retains its soft & smooth texture and matches pretty well with the sauce even though it was bland to begin with.

Stir Fried Sea Scallop and Prawn with Asparagus
**

This dish disappoints me with its unbalanced quality. The scallops are overcooked as they are pretty hard to chew and the asparagus are undercooked, almost raw I must say. Luckily, the prawns and mushrooms made up for it. Not sure what went wrong, but hopefully they can improve on it.

Braised Chili Crab wrapped in Lotus Leaf + Deep Fried Bun
***½

Now, who doesn’t love chili crab? Honestly, I can’t remember when was the last time I had chili crab haha! Chili crab with fried mantous is the best combination ever. Though not the best chili crab I have ever eaten, it has somewhat satisfied my craving! tongue

Stir Fried Vermicelli with Seafood
***

I love vermicelli but this one is a tad dry and sticky, would be good if it is a little spicier and wetter.

Red Bean Soup with Coconut and Lotus Seed
**½

Lastly, dessert! I was hoping to sample their yam paste but… oh wells. A traditional Chinese dessert, the red bean soup is lightly sweetened with crunchy lotus seeds. I personally prefer red bean to be in the paste form.

Braised Claypot Crab with Superior Broth and Pumpkin
*****

Though not in the Mother’s Day menu that we were sampling, the restaurant was kind enough to prepare their specialty dish for us. Maybeline has been praising about it to me for the longest time ever and I truly understand why. The delicious broth is made from salted egg yolk sauce, pumpkin and curry, very flavorful and has a tinge of peppery taste. The sweet and thick broth was bursting with flavor with every mouthful I take. Yes, it was that addictive and delicious. Try it, to believe it. Else you will say that I am exaggerating, which I am not! tongue Definitely worth the 5 stars it deserves.

We were provided with “tools” like utensils, plastic gloves and aprons for us to properly de-shell the crab as well as to minimize the messiness and keeping our hands and clothes clean. 10 points for their effort! smile

Me and Maybeline, crabing in progress! bigsmile Here is the address if you would like to check out the restaurant.
