They may say that age is just a number but aging is a fear for most of us and it is inevitable. Sagging skin, wrinkles, uneven skin tone are visibly shown on my face these days. I have to admit that I’m not the most diligent person ever. Even though I cleanse and moisturize everyday, clay and sheet masks are in my routine but that’s about it. There’s nothing much that skincare can help as it is mainly treating just the surface layer of the skin.
Non-invasive treatments are popular these days and since I’m already in my mid-30s, I decided to try out the ultrasound-based treatment Ultherapy at Sozo Aesthetic Clinic.
What is Ultherapy
So you might be asking, what is Ultherapy? Ultherapy is a non-invasive US FDA-Approved treatment that counteracts the effects of skin aging. It triggers your body’s natural collagen production to gradually tighten and lift the skin around the eyebrows, neck and chin. This treatment also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the chest. In a nutshell, it stimulates collagen production deep within your skin and not just on the surface.
Depending on where you are treated, the procedure typically lasts between 30 mins to 2 hours. After the treatment, your skin will gradually start to see results in 2 – 3 months’ time.
The Ultherapy Treatment
My treatment started with a brief consultation with Dr Justin Boey and Dr Sau Po Yi. They assessed that my skin was not that saggy at the moment but it would be a good experience for me to try out the Ultherapy treatment to boost more collagen production for my skin.
My face was first cleansed and applied with numbing cream. After which, the ultrasound gel was applied on and the treatment started shortly after.
The Ultherapy machine shows a visual screen which indicates the layer of the skin and the number of shots which were used. This is amazing as it is transparent to the customers without any hidden details.
When the ultrasound frequencies were penetrated into my skin, it felt like a sharp pen poking constantly on my face, but much much deeper. It was a pretty weird sensation but I know that it’s definitely working its magic. During the same session, I also tried out HIFU, which was less intense than Ultherapy.
The entire treatment took almost an hour and before I knew, it was done! Thankfully, there wasn’t any downtime at all. My sensitive skin didn’t appear as red as I thought it would be (thank god!) and I could still head off to another event with Nadia and William after reapplying my makeup. No one could tell I just went for an aesthetic treatment!
Typically, an Ultherapy treatment would set you back from S$2,000/session, which is dependent on the treatment area that you are going for. The number of shots required will be declared right at the beginning so that there are no hidden costs. To find out more, check out the pricing here.
After the Treatment
For the next few days or so, my face felt achy but it was bearable. This is one of the side effects that you will experience after the treatment. The achy sensation also went away after a couple of days. I could continue my daily routine as per normal without any disruption.
Not to brag but these days I have people telling me that I don’t look like my age. Is the treatment doing its magic on me? It’s probably still too early to tell but I’m pretty excited about the outcome in 2 to 3 months’ time.
If you are looking for non-invasive treatments with minimal downtime and without going under the knife, do book a consultation with Sozo Aesthetic Clinic to find out more about the treatments and see what suits you best.
